Storage of your unit

Whenever possible, store your unit in a cool, dry place to protect it.

Regular Maintenance

Over time, the data on your device can fade.  

We recommend turning on the Prepper Disk once per year and running any recommended maintenance to keep it working smoothly.

EMP Protection

If you want to protect your device from EMP, consider storage in one of our EMP

Backup

We support and recommend backing up your microSD card in case anything should happen to it. 

To do so. you'll need:

1) A MicroSD card reader on your computer

2) MicroSD Card backup software like Wi32Diskimager (Windows) or ApplePi-Baker (Mac)

3) About 500GB of drive space to store the image on (or a second card if you're copying from card to card)

Refreshing Your Device

If after a period of storage, your device is no longer booting or is slow, this tool can refresh it and install our maintenance utility.

  1. 1Connect your PrepperDisk to your home network using an Ethernet cable.
  2. 2Power on the PrepperDisk. (Please make note whether both red and green lights illuminate.)
  3. 3Download the tool below to a computer connected to your home network.
  4. 4Wait approximately 3-5 minutes, then run the tool on your PC or Mac.
