The End of the Internet As You Know It

🌪️

Disaster strikes

Storms, floods, fires, and manmade attacks all have the ability to sever the internet for days, weeks, or even longer, leaving you cut off from the information your household runs on.

Example: During the 2025 Pacific Winter Storm, tens of thousands of people across the United States lost internet access for more than five straight days.
🚫

Government censorship

Governments hold the power to throttle or completely cut off internet access in their own countries, and they can do it without giving anyone a moment's notice.

Example: In 2017, the Turkish government fully blocked access to Wikipedia for three years, leaving millions of people without one of the most useful reference sites in the world.
🤖

AI takeover

AI is reshaping the internet quickly, from making information unreliable to potentially shutting down large parts of it as a kind of digital doomsday device, which is why owning a snapshot of the web from when it was still mostly human-made could prove genuinely valuable.

Example: In April 2026, Claude Mythos was reportedly leaked to unknown parties, and experts are concerned that bad actors could use this digital doomsday device to collapse the open web.
🌲

Going off-grid

Whether you are forced into the wilderness by circumstances or you choose to live off-grid on a homestead, on a sailboat, or while traveling through remote regions, reliable connectivity is almost always the very first thing to disappear.

Example: [Off-grid example story]

Here's How It Works in Any Situation

A pocket-sized device, your existing phone or laptop, and a few seconds of setup are all it takes.

[IMAGE: laptop and phone showing the UI, with the Prepper Disk in the outdoors, from the home page]

When the internet goes down, you simply switch the WiFi on your phone, laptop, or tablet over to the Prepper Disk's network. Power the unit on by plugging it into a wall outlet, a car charger, a portable power bank, or even a generator, and within seconds it creates its own private WiFi network that up to twenty people can connect to at the same time.

From there you browse all of the included material as if you were online, except nothing actually is online, since every article, map, video, and book lives directly on the Disk. When you don't need it, you can stash it in a drawer, drop it into a waterproof container, or pack it away securely in your bug-out bag for next time.

When You'd Actually Use It

Built for the moments you can't Google your way out of.

[IMAGE: someone using the Disk to look up first aid info]
Someone in your group has been hurt and you need to look up the symptoms, find the right treatment, and stay calm while the situation unfolds around you.
[IMAGE: setting up a shelter or fire in the wild]
A disaster has forced you to bug out, and on the very first day you need to know how to start a fire, filter water, and put together a shelter from whatever happens to be around you.

[IMAGE: kids learning on a tablet connected to the Disk]
The kids still need to keep learning even in the middle of a long emergency, and you've already got Khan Academy courses, TED talks, and 60,000 books loaded on the Disk and waiting for them.
[IMAGE: phone showing offline map of a city]
You are lost in an unfamiliar city, so you pull up the offline maps to figure out exactly where you are and what's just around the next block.
[IMAGE: relaxing off-grid, reading or watching content from the Disk]
You're off-grid for the long haul and looking for something to do, so you watch a TED talk, open up one of the 60,000 books, or play a quiet round of Patience to pass the evening.

Why a Prepper Disk Beats Every Alternative

A quick look at why the obvious substitutes fall short the moment you actually need them.

vs. Your phone

Your phone is only as useful as the internet it's connected to, and the moment that connection drops, almost everything that makes the device valuable drops with it. The Prepper Disk gives your phone its own private emergency internet, restoring the apps, articles, and answers you depend on even when every cell tower around you is dead.

vs. Printed books

You would need a forty-foot shipping container just to store a small fraction of what fits on the Prepper Disk in printed form, and even then you would be flipping through pages by hand instead of searching a library by keyword in seconds.

vs. A USB drive

A regular USB drive could technically hold the same files, but you would struggle to navigate any of it without a proper interface, and you would have to physically hand it around every time someone else needed access. The Prepper Disk wirelessly shares its full library with up to twenty devices at once, and the built-in interface lets you find critical information in moments, like how to apply a tourniquet after a car crash.

Stashed With 7,000+ Households

From homesteaders to off-grid families to entire small communities, here's what people are saying.

This device is a must have in a disaster situation. I can have the library of Alexandria in my hands using the USB feature with an external drive on multiple devices. If I could give Prepper Disk six stars, I would.

WOW! Firstly, the customer service is above and beyond fantastic. When I encountered a delivery hiccup I reached out to the company and Adam responded promptly and thoughtfully.

Within seconds I was connected on my mini PC and my phone. It's really a pretty amazing device. The Pi is USB-C powered so it makes it super easy to take on the go, in the car, or in my comms trailer. It's well organized and easy to find everything.

Why We Built This

Hi, I'm Adam

[IMAGE: Adam in the workshop, with family]

Hi, I'm Adam, and the short version of how Prepper Disk came to exist starts with a long career in software. I spent years as an engineer and then as a technology executive, and right before launching Prepper Disk I was leading an educational software company focused on K-8 students.

That work eventually pulled me into board service with The Water Project, and I started traveling to communities in Kenya to help build wells, sand dams, and protected springs. While I was over there I noticed schools trying to teach computer science on traditional chalkboards because they had no reliable electricity or internet at all, which is when I first came across the early software being used to store pieces of the internet on small offline devices so kids could keep learning regardless of their connection.

I brought the idea home and started kicking it around with my oldest son, who happens to be an avid outdoorsman and a casual prepper himself, and together we asked the question that eventually became Prepper Disk, which was simply, what does the digital version of a prep actually look like? From there we worked closely with survival experts and seasoned preppers to make sure what ended up on the disk was genuinely useful out in the field, and not just impressive on paper.

The response since launch has honestly blown us away, and seeing major prepper channels and respected experts test our work and share it with their own communities has been one of the most rewarding parts of this whole journey. Today we run Prepper Disk as a small family team out of Massachusetts, building the kind of device we always wanted for our own home.

You've Got Three Choices From Here

#1 You ignore this

Close this tab and go on with your day, hoping that the internet, and all of the systems your family quietly depends on it for, keeps working forever in exactly the way it does today.

#2 You try to build it yourself

Building a Prepper Disk yourself is doable. All you need is a Raspberry Pi, a durable case, all of the information on it which will take weeks to collect and download, build a UI, and then hope it all works smoothly. Yes, it's doable for sure. I've done it myself, and if you want a challenging DIY project, go for it. To be honest, it's a fun project, but it took me a tremendous amount of effort and troubleshooting to get the setup right, and the hours and frustration involved aren't really for everyone.

#3 You pick convenience, speed, and peace of mind that your off-grid internet works out of the box Best Pick

Spend $279 today to save yourself the time and the headaches, and have all of those answers waiting in your pocket for the rest of your life. This is the route most of our customers end up taking, and the one we'd quietly recommend to a friend.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often. If yours isn't here, just shoot us a note at support@prepperdisk.com and we'll get right back to you.

Is there a subscription, or any kind of ongoing fee?

There are no subscriptions, no monthly fees, and no usage limits whatsoever. Once your Prepper Disk arrives, every single piece of content on it is yours to keep forever, and any future content updates we release are included at absolutely no extra cost.

Do I really need to be tech-savvy to set this up?

Not even a little bit. The Prepper Disk arrives fully loaded and ready to go, so all you need to do is plug it in, switch your phone or laptop's WiFi over to its private network, and start browsing like you would on any normal website. Most of our customers are completely up and running within five minutes of opening the box.

How do I power it on, and what happens when there is no electricity?

The Prepper Disk runs on a standard USB-C power source, which means a regular wall outlet, a car charger, a portable power bank, or even a generator will all do the job perfectly. The moment it has power, it creates its own private WiFi network and is ready to use within a few seconds.

How many devices can connect to a single Disk at the same time?

Up to twenty devices can be connected to a single Prepper Disk at once, which is more than enough capacity for a typical household, a small classroom, a community group, or even a fully off-grid homestead with extended family staying through an emergency.

How big is it, and is it durable enough to take outdoors?

The Disk measures 3.5 by 2.75 by 1 inches and slips comfortably into a jacket pocket, glove box, or bug-out bag. It lives inside a rugged aluminum case with passive cooling, which means there is no internal fan that could fail on you in dusty, sandy, or wet field conditions.

What about EMP events or electromagnetic interference?

We offer an optional Faraday Bag that protects the unit from EMP events and general electromagnetic interference, and it's something we'd genuinely recommend for anyone who wants to keep the Disk fully shielded and stored safely between uses.

What happens if it doesn't work out for me?

Every Prepper Disk comes with a 60-day return window, so if it doesn't end up making you feel safer, more capable, and more prepared, just email our team at support@prepperdisk.com and we'll send you the instructions to ship it back for a full refund. On top of that, every unit is covered by a one-year hardware warranty just in case anything ever does go sideways.
